Homebase 2, which comes with the door bell, has 16GB storage. Eufy promised 2 years ago that homebase 2 will have expandable storage but that never happened. Now they have homebase 3 out, which has a slot for a 2.5" hard drive for storage. But the homebase 3 works only with new 4K cameras. However they have promised that homebase 3 will work with older cameras and devices sometime next year.. but I'm a bit skeptical about it considering they've said such things before.

This is a great video doorbell. There are newer and fancier ones, but this one just works. It actually works well without paying the subscription fee which most other brands require for the thing to be of any use for security. It does have only 16 GB of memory but that's actually quite a bit when you're talking about 15 second doorbell videos. Even better it stores them on the home base which you can hide inside your home somewhere not on the doorbell itself like some do. This means if someone steals your doorbell there's a good chance that you may have a video of them doing it. The way the storage works is that it just overwrites the old videos whenever it runs out of space while keeping like the last 30 days or so. I have this and strongly recommend it. At this price it's crazy cheap. If you ever thought you might want a video doorbell but didn't want to pay the monthly subscription fees or deal with complicated setup, just buy this one.

I have 2 doorbells hooked up to my homebase, with a little under 3 GB of stored events over the course of 2 years in use(honestly most of which could be deleted). I really only use it to get motion notifications for deliveries etc, with no interest in continuous recording. The appeal to me was that I don't have to pay for cloud storage and events are stored locally, and that the events are stored inside on the homebase in a case where the doorbell may be stolen.

I don't think this is a good option for continuous recording and in fact don't believe its capable of that.

I do have a eufy camera in my garage, but that has local storage and also only records when motion is detected.

Is built in storage to HomeBase expandable? How much built in storage it comes with? I am planning on adding additional cameras to the same home base

That doesn't seem much storage.
So we can't really add another 3-4 camera & expect 3-4 days history? Does it allow cloud storage option?

cloud storage is available but they charge monthly fee per device.

Nest charges one monthly cloud storage fee for all their devices.

I bought my Aunt a similar eufy set a couple of years ago, and it's still going strong and works well at not overdetecting. I can open the app and look out at night to see if there are deer in the front yard, and the resolution is really pretty decent, even when you zoom in using the app. I may buy another one for Christmas for my other Aunt that can use one.

Do you know if HomeBase 2 can be linked with Synology nas?

You can't do continuous recording on the battery doorbell devices, only the dedicated hardwired models. I have a 'hybrid' that can do either or for flexibility but because it has a battery it won't do continuous recording either even though it's hardwired on my new house. So you really won't use much storage for this doorbell. If you're looking to add continuous recording cameras then you'll want the newer homebase which is quite a bit more expensive but let's you add a hard drive for something like up to 2TB of storage.

Yeah, eufy is now infamous for making claims of future compatibility / capability that never come true. At this point, I don't even care what they say, I will just make decisions on what they currently have available and assume that it won't change in the future.

Not that I know of. The homebase does NOT connect to remote storage for expansion. Heck, you can't even connect a USB drive to it for expanded storage. I'm really disappointed with Eufy's broken promises.
