How is Makita's heat gun compared to the Dewalt and Milwaukee heat guns? I picked up the Milwaukee M18 heat gun on a slick deal here and was underwhelmed and decided to return it. Would like to find something better than the M18 and hoping somebody might have some insight into the quality of the Makita gun.

Seems to only let me cancel the whole order. How are u able to only cancel the battery?
When you go to check out, select "ship to store" as the shipping method. Then select the store you want to pick up from near you as the store for the item you want. Then pick literally any other random store as the pick up store for the item you don't want.
When the items arrive at the store, go pick up the item you do want. Don't go pick up the unwanted item. Boom, you've got the one you wanted for half price. The unwanted one gets cancelled and refunded to your card after a week of not picking it up.
I'd be interested too... The reviews on Amazon aren't great, which is unusual for Makita. I almost jumped on this right away, but I am going to think about it. The XGH02ZK is variable temp this is not. My cheap-o harbor freight (bauer) corded heat gun works pretty good. Although a Makita cordless would be convenient I don't think I have ever required a battery powered heat gun.

My guess is that it's going to be similar performance for all the 18/20v cordless heat guns. If you definitely want cordless you can try to see if you can find the Ridgid R860434b, looks to be discontinued in the US but it's 18v with a butane fuel source. My buddy has one and it's a significant step up from my Ryobi one+ heat gun

All battery powered guns are not great compared to their wired counterparts. Let's leave it at that. If you need something portable that doesn't require a ton of heat then this will be ok. But I wouldn't replace the corded one.

If you have a Home Depot Pro account (free to make) when you check out the web order in your 'Purchase History' lists the items separately so you are able to immediately cancel the battery part of the order which kicks the price down to $95 without having to do the week wait for the auto-cancel.
