Hey just wanted to share I own this laptop and have been tuning it/running it through it's paces the past week. Everything from this review is accurate to the quality of the parts and it's stock performance https://www.notebookcheck.net/Gig...170.0.html . The fan curve is aggressive out of the box but is really easily tuned with the Control Center. Battery life is much better than the cheaper laptops that have been hitting front page for 549. Screen is excellent. Components can be pushed to 100% and not thermally throttle. I wanted better temps so I repasted it with the new Arctic MX-6 (did it wrong the first time, second time was the charm). I also used Universal x86 Tuning Utility to tell the CPU to target 83 degrees. I then undervolted the 3060 with MSI afterburner. After everything the laptop has higher cinebench scores than it did stock and stays whisper quiet. Temps for CPU and GPU stay around 80-85 degrees when pushed for extended periods of time. Anyways I think this laptop is a very good deal and I'm very happy I got it. So far I think it's the best budget option with a 3060 in it. It's for my daughter for Christmas so I've automated everything to make it really simple to use where she doesn't need to worry about "breaking" the tuning. If anyone has any questions let me know.

Oh and also. Deal is live now. You do not have to wait.

I jumped on this and cancelled my order for the ideapad 3 gaming, The difference in price and extra specs is phenomenal. Thanks, @CnS_Panikk - I'll crack it open and do some tuning as well.

I sidestepped that originally - the tradeoff that I see is that the lenovo has a better screen, the gigabyte has a much better gpu, according to: https://www.notebookcheck.net/GeF...598.0.html

In some tests, ~50% better!

15.6" FHD 1920x1080 IPS-level Anti-glare Display LCD (144Hz Refresh Rate)

Why does it say "IPS-level"? Is that ips-like and it's just a TN panel?

Also Lenovo has 120hz refresh vs 144hz in gigabyte so wouldn't that make the gigabyte better for gaming?

Depends, perception wise, you probably wouldn't pick up on it. But you'd see a brighter more vibrant and higher pixel count on the Lenovo.

Thanks for update. How is the screen? Is it a TN like some are claiming? How is the screen compared to the lenovo you bought? Thanks

I recommend you read the notebookcheck.com review I had referenced for details, but to sum it up colors are very accurate and brightness is perfectly adequate for indoor use. It is brighter and more colorful than the panel found on the Lenovo IdeaPad Gaming 3.
