I have seen people complain about text clarity on OLED displays compared to IPS. So, if you're buying a monitor for both gaming and coding/office work IPS might be better. Also, if you work in programs with a lot of static elements, I think burn-in could be an issue with OLEDs too.

How common is burn in really though? I've been gaming and doing work on my 48" LG CX for some time now (almost 8000 hours) and the display is as beautiful as the first time I've used it) with no burn in. I just decided to get something smaller (LG C2 42").

Why would someone get this over the AW3423DW? Wouldn't it better to get an OLED UW QHD at 175Hz? I'm just curious though I just picked up a LG C2 42" lol

Apparently this is a 38GN950-B.AUS monitor although that information —for some reason — is not provided the listing and is in the fine print even on the Costco site. I am not sure what the ".Aus" part of that designation means. I wonder if that is just to signify a special Costco version of this product.

yes and as much as I love OLED I dont want to have to worry about screen burn in when I have a Word document up on the screen for 6 hours . That is the big downside of working on the same monitor that you play on.

That is very interesting ! To be honest I have no personal experience with burn in since the days of plasma TV -so I am just going on what the manufacturers are saying and what others have said. I have had no problem with OLED TVs but the images are not static and the screensaver comes up very quickly when you pause the program and make the image static. For now the anxiety factor would keep me from getting an OLED monitor.

From what I've seen, OLED monitors have a nasty tendency to dim whenever they have anything with a white background so they don't burn in. So unless you don't have a bright office, I'd avoid it just for that.

Also, I just picked up this model for work and it's fantastic so far.

Why is it I can get a Sony 55" OLED TV for the same price? The economy of scale just seems off... supply and demand I suppose...

For what it's worth and FYI, an open box version of this model was sold on eBay for $749 two weeks ago (Nov 2nd and now OOS). Here's the thread: https://slickdeals.net/f/16146421-open-box-lg-38-ultragear-curved-wqhd-nano-ips-monitor-38gn950-b-749-99

Not saying this isn't a good deal (it is, Costco's return policy is amazing), just good info to have if you're considering this model.

With the new RTX 4090s making 4K gaming a breeze, anyone know how we are looking on Ultrawides with 4K/144hz+/Gsync/. Anything coming down the pipeline?

The right size & resolution for my next monitor.. But I gotta hold out for type C input as well for when I work from home.

Same and if I could have my ideal monitor, a KVM switch for using my keyboard and mouse on two different computers

For a 38-inch, this price/product is about as good as it gets, or are there better ones out there? I have no experience in purchasing monitors and I'm looking to buy one for gaming.
