Got the S7 Ultra MaxV during the anniversary sale. It was expensive, but it was probably one of the best things I've ever bought. Coming from the owner of a German shepherd…

Decided on buying the S7 MaxV Ultra after the anniversary sale and have been waiting for the BF deals. For considering such an expensive piece of tech, I watched a million videos, but here's a short one [youtube.com] that goes over 100 days of ownership and all the pieces you'll need to (infrequently) clean to avoid the stink. I'll be up at midnight waiting for it to finally go on sale on the 24th 🙏

I am new to this robot. What would be a good robot for an apartment with 850 sq ft area? No pets, no kids, no carpets, all tile flooring.

Prefer both sweep and wipe (vacuum and mop) functionality.

Thanks.

I have an S7 MaxV Ultra for my downstairs which has mostly wood floor, and an S7 MaxV Plus for my upstairs which is almost all carpet. Both are just fantastic and feel like a massive leap forward in robot vacuum tech. In the past I had a very old non-mapping Roomba, it was useless. I had a Roborock S4 with mapping, it was ok but always threw errors on mid-pile carpet. I had an Ecovac Deebot T8 AIVI which was top of the line 2 years ago...but it was terrible for fine pet hair(auto empty never worked), and also got lost trying to find the dock all the time.

The S7 MaxV just works. It requires very little "babysitting", just make sure the floor is generally picked up of stuff like cords. I run them 5 days a week (3 pets, kids, etc). I have to "help the stuck robot" maybe once every two weeks. The auto empty bins on both the + and the ultra work perfectly with fine pet hair (we have one long hair cat, and two mid/long hair dogs that shed tons). The mop on the ultra is good...the convenience of auto empty/auto fill makes it super simple to keep going. I mop twice a week and I do try to empty it within 24h of mopping because the dirty water will get smelly, but this is a 1 minute task and super easy.

Its expensive but it really is amazing if you're on the fence. My floors have never been cleaner. One tip - if you are doing a lot of carpet, buy a Q5 replacement brush (~$10 on amazon). It fits the S7 MaxV and has bristles, which work much better on carpet. The standard brush is all rubber, which is great for hardwood floors/tile, but not carpet.

Will bestbuy price match when thr prices fall down in roborock site?. I have some GC in Bb
It's unlikely. I tried to get Home Depot to price match a Roborock.com sale in the past and they refused saying they don't price match wholesalers. My guess is Best Buy will have the same policy.

stinky dock
I Lysol the dirty water tank after I dump it. Do the same with the mop cleaner area every few months. Make sure to dump the water after a few days. Solved my problems.

Love my roborock. I think we have the fancier S4 version. Use it on mostly hardwoods a couple times a week or spot clean as we notice dog hair accumulating. We use the Mi Home app instead of the roborock app and it's been super easy to use, even remotely. VERY happy with it. We don't have any REAL reason to upgrade or we might.

I own the S7 MaxV Ultra and agree with all this. It's an incredible product especially for a busy household. My home has never been cleaner.

I lysol the dirty water tank after I dump/ rinse it. Helps keep it fresh!

I have the s7 and I'm a little under whelmed. If you pick it up and move it manually it cannot find the dock, even if it is only a few feet away. It makes the oddest maps. It likes to create hallway like areas in my room and then zig zag down the hall instead of going the long way. Super strange.
If I manually move mine it drives into several rooms and spins in a circle trying to identify where it is. Once it finds out, it heads back to the dock.

You may have one with issues. Mine drew really detailed maps. I watched it when it created them. It could see across the house from one point in a corner. I don't know how far it can see, but it is quite a ways. You should try deleting your maps and letting it learn the rooms again.

I have the S6 taking care of 2200 sq ft. It does a great job for me and it sweeps/vacuums my tile areas, vacuums the carpets, and mops. It works really well for me.

Things to consider:
Mopping requires you to attach the water tank. It isn't as automatic as sweeping/vacuuming.

The S6 doesn't automatically empty its rubbish bin. With my mixture of carpet and tile, I have to empty the bin container 2-3 times per week. There are other models that can empty the container automatically at the charging dock. If you are all tile and 850 square feet, you can probably get by with weekly emptying.

How do these mopping or self emptying vacs do with something like pet urine? We have dogs, and as well potty trained as they are accidents will inevitably happen. I have a gen 1 Xioami that we really like, but over the years there have been a couple of instances of urine getting vacuumed up which then requires disassembly/cleaning. I can maybe see this being made worse with an auto empty vac contaminating the waste storage bin as well.

The robot wont identify urine as something to avoid, it would mop it around, just like it mops dirt around if you expect it to deep clean. It would not be ideal for it to mop a urine stain, but run the mop routine a few times (with the wash station) and eventually the floor, and urine stain, will be clean.

It's more of a maintenance cleaner, than a spot/deep clean device.
