There's honestly no difference - I'd argue the ad version is better because I see Andy Weir and Stephen King books I otherwise wouldn't have known about.
That said, it's still just a light-up book, at the end of the day.
If you are buying new, you might want the "kids" version, as it includes a cover and no-ads.

Not really. The screensaver is an ad for a book that you may or may not be interested in. You swipe up to turn it on just like non-ad-supported.
