You'll get charged the full price + taxes when making the order with a trade-in online. When you go in-store to pick up the new phone and trade in your old phone, they'll refund you the difference and with that, your taxes will also be adjusted according to the final price.

Source: I traded in my Pixel 6 for a Pixel 7 a month ago at Best Buy.

Please check again. These are the old trade-in values. They are now offering $460 for the iPhone XR.

I hope you are speaking from experience and are right that they will refund tax at trade-in. I wasn't happy about paying more in tax than the cost (after trade-in)

How assured are the trade in values.. I am skeptical because the order process does not record the trade in . And if my trade in phone comes next week the values may drop or they may no longer accept cracked phones

No - I traded in a phone stuck in a boot loop. I wiped it, but it does nothing except go into "restore" or just boot loops. It can, as far as I can tell, be completely non-functional. You do need the IMEI and you have to make sure that "Find my Iphone" is turned off.

Nothing I could find tells me how long this will be valid for. When pulling up my order on Bestbuy.com it showed my device value that I was trading in as $0.00, and a Trade in Promotion of $350. When picking up my phone this was confirmed by the person at the desk. At first she didn't see the $350 value, but then it showed up. If you have it in your order showing the $350 off (which you can see before you submit your order) you should be fine. But make sure you have the IMEI and that it is deactivated in "Find my Iphone" - this WILL show up in an IMEI check. Ask me how I know - my wife had to deactivate find my iphone while I was standing in the best buy trying to pick up the phone.
