If anyone cares, here are the basic picture settings I landed on to make the TV look more natural and less blown out in terms of brightness. It's as close as I could get it by eye sight to my A80J OLED. This will work best in a dark room. I'm pretty content with the end result, specially for the price.
Picture Mode: Dolby Vision Dark
Color Saturation 65
Contrast 85
Black Level 50
Local Contrast High
Gamma 2.6
Color Temperature -4
Motion Clarity ON
Judder Reduction 2

I hear that there have been improvements to the Google OS this year, but the general consensus before now (and my own experience, as well) is that Roku's TV OS is very stable and has a great user interface that most people prefer in actual use.
Personally, I'd still pick a Roku TV over a Google TV and I'm a Google/Android guy in every other way.
