TaxAct [taxact.com] is offering 50% discount over your 2022 Tax Returns filing fees. Just click the link and add an empty Return within your TaxAct account, in order to lock the price for next year. You will still have the option to file the return later until the Tax Day (4/18/2023).

Deluxe: Federal ($12.48) + State ($22.48) = $34.96 Regular: $24.95 + $44.95 = $69.90
Premier: Federal ($17.48) + State ($22.48) = $39.96 Regular: $34.95 + $44.95 = $79.90
Self-Employed: Federal ($32.48) + State ($22.48) = $54.96 Regular: $64.95 + $44.95 = $109.90

Thanks, I've created a shell return from the link. In the past we could pre-pay the fees to lock in the promo deal, but I did not see that option, and looks like if prices go up later, we would get the 50% off, but at whatever the current price would be. Also when I added the return, it only shows the Federal and does not show the included state. I did import last years return data as I file using Tax Act, but that did not seem to help.

In the past I have used Credit Karma (I think now Cash app) but as of 2021 activily participated in rental properties. Credit Karma does not allow for unlimited losses for active participation so I need to pay for a software this year. On my return last year I had on loss on schedule C which related to rental loss but no idea why this schedule was included. Should I just buy the self employed on here to be safe?

EDIT: Got the option to upgrade to "Online 2022 All Inclusive Edition" for $57.48.

I used to use TaxAct every year religiously for 10 years until 2 years ago. They started charging full price and offered no discount. It got expensive. I ditched it, went to FreeTaxUSA, and never looked back. Both products are comparable in terms of ease of use. I will stick with FreeTaxUSA since I have no complaints and it costs less (federal is free, state is $14.99 each).

Awesome. Thanks so much for posting this. It's the only thing I had an alert for. I missed it last year because I don't come here as often and had to pay almost full price.

Will the discount stay in our accounts or will they remove if if we don't use it before a certain amount of time? Seems like one year I put a discount in my acct and it disappeared for some reason.

I'd do that too but I stick to TaxAct because I can transfer my last years info. At this point I have no idea how to start fresh with another tax service.
