I recently purchased this, put about 2-3 hours on it and it stopped filling the tank. I took the cover off and saw that the line that feeds from the pump into the tank blew off. It's a braided steel covered silicone tube. Most other brands including the Rigid have solid steel pipes instead. I actually liked this compressor and was sad it failed. I returned it and bought the Rigid instead.

Here's a photo of the line that popped off

Definitely a good deal with the accessories. I noticed that Lowes has a 6 gal "Kobalt" and HD has a 6 gal Ridgid for $99 as well. I'm not in the market for a pancake compressor, as I have one, but note that many are 2.5 gal - 3 gal in size. 6 gal is nice when you're using higher demand SCFM tools.

The above said, before you buy this, you might want to consider the Ridgid, for $99 on a BFD special, first [homedepot.com]. The Ridgid has a 3 yr warranty, and is only 80db loud (which is not very loud for a pancake compressor, esp if you're using indoors). The Goodyear is pretty powerful, though, as it has higher SCFM vs the Ridgid, and max PSI on this Goodyear is 175, while the Ridgid is only rated at 150 psi max. Both are great deals.

Love the Continental belt in a Goodyear compressor.

I wonder why the Goodyear doesn't give a db rating for noise?
The goodyear is not too loud. I would say it's close to the same as the rigid after using them both. However I was using them outdoors so it's hard to know for sure.

Didn't realize how much noise mattered with these things until I bought one of those cheap 3 gallon Harbor Freight ones the other day and OMG that thing is so loud.

I've been eyeing this and considering jumping on it, but does anyone know if the rigid with 3 tools is worth the extra $100 vs getting this Goodyear deal? I'm kinda leaning towards the rigid with 3 tools now… Link to other rigid deal: https://slickdeals.net/share/iphone_app/fp/765349

Noob question. What are the pros and cons of an air nailer vs electric.

Great compressor. I spray pained my kitchen cabinets doors and drawers 3 coats and the results were fabulous. You just can't spray paint non stop, but kitchen cabinets are so small that you don't have to.

Purchased this compressor about 8 months ago to use as a building contractor for small jobs because it is one of the only ones available especially for the cost that gets to 175 lbs. We use it every day (and I mean use it) outside mostly. Just set it away from where you are working if you don't like noise. Not super quiet but have had other 6 gallon yellow and orange compressors. This one definitely has the best bang for the buck. Yes, bang since we use it daily to run at least two nail guns simultaneously with at least one as a framing nailer. I would buy again and just bought 2 more as Christmas gifts for two of my guys.

Obviously convenience and portability. If you just trying to hold a piece of wood in place so you can put a nail in it occasionally, a battery nail gun works fine. I prefer Milwaukee but everybody has something they like. However, if you are in the trades and need to fasten rows of sheet decking you will want to use a pneumatic nailer because the battery just won't keep up with the demand of prolonged rapid firing yet. When you're trying to get a job done you don't always have time to wait for a battery to charge just so you can finish something. We use nailers everyday of both varieties and it really just depends on the job. If you're a maintenance person doing punch out, battery powered nailers are the way to go because it cost less for setup and takes up less space in your vehicle. If you need production you just have to weigh the details of what you're trying to accomplish and how much you're willing to adjust to make that happen by accommodating a battery nailer. All have their place and we use them both everyday.

Unfortunately, other than the pencil size irrigation lines used around flower beds and gardens, no, this isn't nearly large enough.
Thanks! Will keep eyes open - ended up paying for service this year - hoping NOT to do that next year.

Well, hard to say w/ out more specifics, but the Goodyear does seem to be fairly powerful (175 psi and 6 gal is no joke) for a pancake compressor, so if any pancake at $99 could do it, then it's probably this Goodyear in the OP. I, personally, like the Ridgid better, but there's no doubt the Goodyear is simply more powerful.

Would this be good for an airbrush? I've been considering setting up for one for a while, but haven't done a ton of research on compressors.

If only for airbrushing and assuming indoor use, I'd say it's overkill, especially considering the noise, it is louder than many competitors. It will drive the fam and doggies nuts!

Thanks! That's probably all I'd use it for so I'll look for a quieter one during the holidays.

Hmm. Goodyear doesn't make air compressors, do they? I'm assuming that somebody just paid a fee to slap on a name that people recognized. I have the Ridgid version of this, and have been very happy at how portable they are. It didn't come with any hose, though, so I had to get an inexpensive kit for 14 bucks or so at Harbor Freight.
