I was tempted until I read the reviews. There are A LOT of complaints that the feeder skips some meals. Whether it be a clog, motor failure, or clock failure...

We have a Feraro and LOVE it. Battery backup makes me feel good about decisions in a zombie apocalypse (spoiler alert, I'm not taking the cat).

Seriously though, the value of these giving your cat the perfect amount of daily food and them not begging you for it every 2 hours is priceless. Our cat is a very healthy weight and we're never ever bothered by his personal struggles to stay in shape.

I've had absolutely zero issues with mine in 2 years. I absolutely love this thing. It's one of those gadgets I wish I bought years ago.

Consider getting the WiFi model. The app makes it easy to set a schedule/portions and manually feed. It also keeps a log. Auto feeders are so convenient, I couldn't go back to not having one.

Place a cinder block or paver on top. I use these for chicken feeders outside.

Lock won't stop racoons from destroying it. We have a different brand wifi cat feeder with lock on top and Racoons several times unplugged the feeder,opened the top and emptied it out. My solution to that was to screw down two hooks on the floor on our deck where the feeder sits between two hooks. Then I put a tie-rachet over it so that racoons can not open or remove it. So far it has been working. Also I do not dispense food after 7pm so by the time, the racoons show up, the tray is already empty.
