Im using a gen 2 Nike, still works fine. Battery lasts a day or two depending on use. Until they get batteries to last a week on these things, I won't buy another.

It does have fall detection, but it lacks some of the other health features like ECG and blood oxygen.

I'd be tempted to go for a cellular model if you are really worried about fall detection. Can't do much if it doesn't have any sort of internet connection. I mean if they are always at the old folks home and it has good wifi the GPS is probably fine but otherwise might not be enough or they have an iPhone already and always keep it with them. Also family setup for someone without an iPhone requires cellular AFAIK.
