Couldn't pay me to take a Google/Android tv. Had a 85" Sony TV with that OS and most of the apps/OS was crashing all the time. Moved to a LG Oled and it's better with Web OS, BUT the most unstable apps on the TV are the google ones (Youtube TV & Youtube App).

I'm an Android phone user so nothing against Google, but they just can't figure out how to optimize their apps/platform on tv's for some reason (or just don't do enough testing).
I feel like it must be the fault of the TV itself. The Google TV environment on all my Chromecast devices works flawlessly.

Probably because the Chromecast was designed from the ground up by Google. Whole different world when you're supporting so many models of tv's with different hardware capability that is usually very limited.

I'm very happy with my TCL 65" 65S434 (Android) bought 2 years ago from Target for $230.

I wonder how good this TV is on "HDR Real Scene Peak Brightnes"
My LG OLED has 726 cd/m² but I would assume this TV probably has about 350~cd/m²

Brightness is a huge factor in HDR content and many of these cheaper 4K "HDR" Tvs don't have enough brightness to properly take advantage of the HDR content.

Thus these 4K "HDR" tvs are really good for consuming 4K Netflix/amazon content but at somewhat mediocre brightness. That's fine if you haven't been spoiled by OLED or QLED yet Stick Out Tongue

Edit: However, at this price 230~ for 65, that is super great for the screen size. Might jump on it for a garage TV

For newbies, what is "local dimming" and why does it matter? TIA!

I actually brought this TV home along with a Samsung Q60A and LG UP7000. After comparing them side by side I went with the LG. The colors on this budget TCL looked even more washed out than the Sammy. That said, most people don't compare big 65" TV's side by side in their houses and would be fine with this TCL.

I can't say for sure but this is probably just like every other 4K LCDtv where the blacks are dimly-lit-blue (from the backlight bleed) as opposed to OLED where they are truly black. Edit: Check this image for reference: https://www.notebookcheck.net/fil...5fd416.jpg

localized dimming helps with darker scenes that have lit-up stuff like moons and candlelight. Local dimming helps prevent the backlight from bleeding into the rest of the darker picture

Seems like Walmart Plus members will likely get them all, I'm not paying for the privledge to shop at Walmart, worth a shot to maybe get it but likely sold out before the rest of us can even get one.
