I bought the $188 one and it was trash. Straight-on viewing was ..ok... but anything at even a slight angle and it was awful. This is the 55S41 $188 on Nov 8 or thereabouts, that I'm micro-reviewing.

I took it back, and I'll keep using a 2010 Sony; the Sony was superior. Frown

I have a TCL 55" 4 series since they dropped to $299… like back in 2017. Used in bedroom so it's only straight - on viewing, room isn't large enough to test wide angles. But we have been very happy with the TV at price paid.

Same model but you get 40% more screen with only a 21% increase in price. So price per square inch of screen area is cheaper on the 65"

Most cases they choose not to repair they just refund the original purchase price minus the contract cost.
I've had this happen on the refrigerator because the door seal got ripped.
And two TVs because they failed one of them I went to eBay purchase a motherboard and repaired it myself with a few of the dollars they refunded on the whole purchase price.
I didn't see option for 5 years. Just saw 4 years. Can you tell me if and how I can update it? 5 year option is surely better. I am sure this TV won't last 5 years.

I declined coverage and when I went to the shopping cart screen, there was a little box to check for $39 for 5 years coverage.

I 1st declined the 4 year, go to cart and pick the 5-year for $39
You can always start a return on the 4 year and then buy the 5 year,
You have something like 30 days or more to purchase it or return the warranty

I've had this TV for over 4 years now. They still get updated unlike LGs.

I thought it was a good deal at $400, this is even better.

As I recall, Walmart sold a low end Element 55" for BF 2 or 3 years ago. I bought one. It was cheap and it performs like you would expect for a cheap TV with a cheap panel and bare bones setup menu. After only 2 years, it now has a vertical stripe just left of center screen. Most noticeable on red backgrounds. So, I just ordered the 65" TCL. It's probably no better, picturewise. But, I'm hoping it will last more that two years before the components start failing. I would not buy another low end Element.

I read similar comment about this trick, I tried it but didn't see option. Will try to switch it to 5 years.

Also what is contract cost. Do they prorate the TV price when you file for claim
