Instead of just saying, hey buy this phone outright and we'll give you this gift card for this much.. But no, they make this as confusing af so carriers still win in the end.

If they have not changed the process for this year, you will get the Walmart gift card emailed to you within 24-48 hours after purchase. I have upgraded this exact way 3 years in a row via Walmart because I have an old grandfathered ATT plan and do not want it changed or touched. This is the probably one of the few retailers besides ATT Corporate stores that can do upgrades or add lines without changing your current plan.

In 2019 I lined up in store and purchased 2 phones in store. It was $350 actual gift cards back then, they were loaded and activated at the time of phone purchase but they said the funds should be available after 4 hours back then.

In 2020 I did 2 lines again but it was only $300 gift cards but via email. The emailed gift cards and PIN codes came in a few hours after the phone purchases.

In 2021 I got smarter. I booked each phone's activation appointment 1 day apart. This time I upgraded 3 lines. The first $300 credit came in within 2 hours of paying for the first phone upgrade. So for the second phone's activation the next day, I used the first phone's gift card and paid down $300. Same with the 3rd phone upgrade the following day as the second phone's gift card email came in shortly same day after they processed the second activation. Therefore I am left with only 1 $300 gift card to spend later. Yes I went there 3 days in a row, lucky it's only 4 miles away and you get to reserve the phone size and color you wanted on their available phones on-hand list.

You DO NOT get monthly billing credits. This way you are never tied up for 3 years because billing credits balance is forfeited if you cancel or port out. The only situation where you may get billing credits is if you did a trade in and received $800 credit or whatever corporate ATT was promoting. But then you are REALLY tied up for 36 months if you wanted the $800 or whatever the ATT trade in promo was offering. The trade in promo billing credit deal is ONLY worth it if you plan on staying with ATT for 3 years AND if they were giving you $800 for an old cracked phone. I have never done this because the trade in promotions always required a plan change for me. Sorry I can not shed any light on this type of deal stacking as I do not want my grandfathered plan changed. Perhaps someone who has traded in as well as received the $300 gift card can share their experience here.

Please note, you ARE required to do the installment plan. There must be some kind of cell carrier kickback commissions for installment plans along with the line upgrade or new line activation commissions to the retailer. The monthly installment amount to be paid is dependent on how much you pay up front during checkout. So if the phone is $1049 and you pay down $849 plus your state's sales tax on the full amount, it will leave you with a $200 balance due, your monthly installments would be $200/36 months = $5.56 per month.

After 2 billing cycles (probably when the cell carrier commissions are paid due to Net60 terms) you can pay off your remaining balance via the ATT website and then cancel and go to another carrier and request the unlock code via their unlocking portal entering your IMEI number and cell phone number and email address. It usually takes a few days for the unlock email with the codes to arrive, a few times it came same day as submission.

For me I pay them off right before the next year's promos and request the unlock, unless I need a phone to be unlocked sooner due to international travel etc, then I would pay off that line ASAP as it may take a few days to process the unlock. Once the installments are paid off, I can quickly upgrade again via Walmart Black Friday promo, wash, rinse and repeat.

So to sum it up, you will receive your $300 gift card via email shortly after the phone purchase and activation. If you want the phone unlocked as soon as possible, do not do trade in billing credits and be tied up for 36 months. Pay down as much as you can at the time of purchase. Pay off the remaining balance after 2 billing cycles and request the unlock. For iPhones you do not have to do anything after requesting the unlock. Once you receive the email that it has been approved, just insert your non-ATT SIM card and it will re-activate the phone via Apple's server and it will be unlocked permanently, it will reboot, and probably automatically do a carrier settings update right after.

Do anyone know how to trade in a device in online Walmart to get 250$ gift card, I don't see an option in the Walmart app or website. Or trade in is only eligible in store?

iPhone 13 seems to be a better deal than 14?
Correct it was similar last year the 12 was a better deal than the 13. You get a better gift card value but of course the phone is a year older.

I get that. But I don't understand how can I close the account before 60 days. This means 3 months of service before I can get my device unlocked by AT&T.
I am not an AT&T customer today.
So way I see it is:
iPhone 13 Pro Max $949 + tax + activation fee + 3 month service fee - $500 Walmart GC.
I have Verizon and i always buy on my account and pay it off. Last year I buy two phones. I purchased one and paid 99.9% and I went to the Verizon store and paid the remaining 1% then come to Walmart and buy another one. it worked for me because i am with Verizon, and my family uses Prepaid mobile service with other providers.

Ok, I think the 14 is not that big of an upgrade over 13. The question is what to spend on with this $400 Walmart money. At least the GC doesn't expire...

Do we also get the AT&T and Verizon trade in discount of $800 in addition to the Walmart gift card ?
Or we have to give the phone to Walmart to get the gift card ?

Buried at the following link it looks like the limit is 3 per customer

https://i5.walmartimages.com/dfw/...3f.v1.html
The limit is 3. I need to pay the $12.95 to sign up for Wal-Mart+ for one month. The free trial doesn't allow for early access. The question I have is I plan to buy two iphones, one with AT&T under my boyfriend's AT&T account. And another under my own account with Verizon. While I know I'll have to purchase them separately, I assume I won't need two different Wal-Mart+ accounts to get the two gift cards.

Might just sign both of us up on two separate Wal-Mart + accounts just because I fear I might not get the $450 for the Iphone 13 Pro and $500 for the iphone 13 Pro Max with it being two separate names and different phone carrier accounts that are also under two different names.

Not familiar with Wal-Mart+ and these type of deals...seems they're yearly.

Works on all 3 major carriers.

Combine with carrier trade in of $800 for att or $1000 for Verizon. Upgrades are eligible.

https://www.walmart.com/shop/col/...-offer-300

Please do online, not in store. Trade in should go to Corp carrier store.

Is there a difference between paying 99% at Walmart and 1% at Verizon vs. paying one month at Walmart and the remaining at Verizon?

I don't think so but I have tried that because sometimes service providers may trick you by saying you have to be there for some time. That's what I always used to pay as much as I can in Walmart. However, make sure you activate the phone on the service providers. If not what will happen is whatever sim card you insert first time, it will lock the phone with that service provider.

Does anyone know if there are any issues waiting to activate the phone? Want to buy as a Christmas present but don't want the installments to be delayed or to not get the GC if I don't activate immediately or within X days

I want to buy it and use on Verizon prepaid, do you know if the phone would still auto unlock after 60 days even if I cancel the new postpaid service right after paying it off?

The Walmart gift card doesn't have anything to do with the trade in

Just to confirm, this won't force me to change plans if I'm already on a new plan? I'm currently on the "5g do more" plan with unlimited data.

I recently switched from an old 16GB plan because Verizon added all these new fees and my bill went up $40/month with our 3 phones and 3 watches. I called to tell them I was leaving and either going to t-mobile, Mint, or Visible (Verizon's own low cost MVNO).

To keep me, the lowered my bill by $60 but I had to go to the newer unlimited plan. That gave me a discount for direct debit (vs credit). They also gave me a $25/month loyalty discount, and lowered our watch LTE plans from $10 to $5 per month.

What I'm hoping is that if I upgrade one of the existing lines with this deal that it doesn't somehow reset any of the discounts I'm getting which would be a deal breaker.

Is there any way to find out now the list of trade-in devices that qualify for the $250 gift card?
