I don't want to deal with physical, and enjoy being able to game-share across two consoles. Why does topic this have to be re-litigated ad nauseam?
I'm pushing up in years myself.
Also a lot of people don't bother with trading / sharing games, so that argument is almost moot.
PC gaming has been all digital for years now, but hardly anyone complains about it because they are used to it. Consoles will eventually become all digital too (give it another generation or two).
As a ancient old gamer (47) I just do not get why people buy digital. I mean, I could see it if it was cheaper, but its not. If you dont like the game, you get nothing back for it. You can't sell it. A friend cannot borrow it. Just makes no sense to me, but to each their own
As an old gamer you should know this. Digital = no need to get off the couch.

Digital games on PC are also much cheaper than on console and are inherently more backwards compatible so it doesn't bother me as much.

I buy it to gameshare them with my son. Have two PS5 at home and whenever I want to get a game we both can play together or at the same time, then digital makes sense.

Digital sales are reserved for the very best games you like that you know will keep in your library.
Witcher 3 GOTY I bought digital, GTAV, Red Dead II as well. This is after buying the disc version then selling/trading and buying again digital once I know it will stay in my library forever.
Digital has its benefits, the problem is buying a digital only console not you have no choice……..

Yep; that's why I'll only buy the consoles with the disc drives. Up front you might save some money, but over time I would probably save money from buying the games cheaper, or used, and also re-selling them.

100% my friends and I get the discs so we can trade around games. Great for single player games if you don't care to replay them a bunch and save so much on just gifting each other games after playing or if we don't like them
Anyone know if this is better on PS5 vs Xbox One Series X/One?
The PS5 runs at slightly higher FPS than the XB Series X. I think Digital Foundry did a video showing it. BUT...neither run at 60FPS consistently. PS5 is around 56-58 or something, XB Series X is 54-56. Don't quote me on those numbers, but that was roughly what the video was showing.
HOWEVER....the PS4 version running on a PS5 is a solid 60FPS at all times, with only very minor graphical downgrades. If you want 4K with the highest quality graphics etc, PS5 is the way to go but you'll sacrifice some smoothness. If you want silky smooth gameplay and almost as good graphics, get the PS4 version and play on the PS5 (it comes with a free digital upgrade to the PS5 version if you should ever decide to go that route anyway - or, if future patches maybe make the PS5 version 60FPS also).
I hope that makes sense. There have been a fair amount of info about this on the web - the PS4 version played on the PS5 is the smoothest.
I recently bought the PS4 version and I'm playing it on my PS5. I wanted the smoothest experience. So far, I'm not seeing any graphics that make me go "last gen". It looks incredible and plays great. I hated Dark Souls, and I suck at this game, but I'm actually really liking what I've played so far.
