I've been eyeing these for a while now. I currently own: Hifiman Arya v2, Focal Clear OG, Fostex Th900, Modhouse Argon MK3,
Senn HD 600.

Am I missing something by not having the HE-6se v2?

They're somewhere between the sparkle and clarity of the Arya, and the slam of the Argons, when properly powered. Probably superior to both in their respective regards, but they are extremely inefficient and only really show these properties if you feed them a solid 5 or 6w.

I use these without an amp from an Iphone X. Fiio BTR5 powers this fine as well over the balanced headphone jack. The volume has to go up to power them, but it's really quite good without an expensive amp. I recommend powering them without an expensive amp with what you have before shelling out the extra $$$.

Wow. Those are the exact same headphones I have currently. What a coincidence.

Tell me your HD600s are the OG marble headband version and I'll lose it.

Are these actually an $1800 headphone? even on amazon they've plummeted to $550 in a year. audio tech doesn't change that quickly, feels like pricing bs.

im not the person u replied to but a great alternative would be the Hifiman Edition XS. It retails in the US on amazon for $500 but you can also grab it from aliexpress for anywhere between $320 - $350 shipped to the US. Its a fantastic headphone for the price and arguably the best planar under $500 at the moment.
