Worth every penny if you backup your computer regularly. I even paid full price!
So does the software figure out the changes made each day and only backup the changes or does it do a full drive backup each day? And does it also restore to a previous day or copy relatively well?
I'd like to do a daily backup to my home server such that if something happened to my laptop, I'd have a backup copy on my server. Can this do that for me? Would I need two licenses, one for my laptop and one for my server?
A year ago I tried to do a full image to a new larger SSD for my laptop using the free version, it seemed relatively straightforward process but it didn't work for me and I didn't have time to troubleshoot.

It does incremental backups after an initial full backup if you set the scheduled backup that way. I think this deal is 4 licenses, so you'd have 2 extra. I believe it would suit your needs.
I can vouch for Macrium. Hated Acronis cuz they kept adding bloatware and crap I don't need. Support Macrium over Acronis.
Agreed, I just moved away from Acronis after using it for many years. A slight learning curve but Macrium feels like a much cleaner solution.. plus Acronis is trying to force people into their subscription model.

It's totally customizable. You can have it do either, but I think the most popular way of doing it is grandfather-father-son[macrium.com] with full-differential-incremental. I haven't used every backup software before, but I've tried more than a few and I've found Reflect is the fastest/easiest at restoration. You can actually mount the drive backups rather than having some weird special UI, which I really like. I can only vouch for drive-level backups, not file-folder ones, but it's really rock-solid software. Used it professionally and personally before.
No, unless you want to do something weird, you only need a license on your client (the thing doing backups/restorations). The output of the backup is just a file, you can copy or move it wherever you want. The other poster is wrong.
I've never had any problems, but FWIW Macrium 8's UX is way better than previous versions. I'd say that previous versions were a bit... idiosyncratic and it was easier to click on the wrong thing.
Strongly, strongly recommend going with Reflect. If nothing else, it's the only backup tool I've found that I can just trust to not mess up. The HyperV virtualization of backups and ReDeploy/the boot drive are also really nice if you're nerdy.

Thank you for your input and opinion. I wish I was more nerdy to figure out hyperv stuff one my server. Instead I'm jut running a Windows machine with network folders. I did end up buying the 4 license version so thank you OP.
News - Macrium 'Reflect Free' edition support is being discontinued 1/2024 (11 months from now).
I am a long time Macrium user (tried Acronis many years ago).
Option 1 - Look into alternatives such as EaseUS ToDo, Acronis Cyber Protect (formerly known as True Image) or Clonezilla.
Any of these good enough?
Option 2 - Assuming I still decide Macrium is my best bet, I would need a 4 pack of Macrium Reflect Free. $140 is a bit steep, but for $70 I would be more inclined. How often does this go on sale?
Macrium Reflect Home is now $239 for a 4-pack. Up $100 from last Black Friday (not even 9 full months ago).
Bye bye Macrium: $140 (when not on sale) is one thing (keeping in mind it was free for years before that), but up to $239 now; are they kidding?
I tried some of the other alternatives several months ago (created disc images), but had to delete the images to make some disc space, so did not get a chance to test them.
Anyone recommend one of the following for disc imaging (which I am considering - open to other alternatives):
Veeam Agent
Rescuezilla (GUI version of Clonezilla)
EaseUS ToDo Free edition << Is there a concern with security / malware with EaseUS? Thought my virus software flagged EaseUS disck rescue software?
When I started using the 8 free version months ago and liked it, I did a SD search and found this thread. I missed the deal, but I saw that sales like this thread represents were occurring from time to time....so I waited.
Since then, they raised the prices, added a subscription version (Lifetime version will likely suffer for it.) and no real sales.
I just received what is likely the final patch for the free version. Now at the top there is an ad for the subscription 'annual' version. Get it now for 20% off!
What a joke.
Were these guys bought by a private equity firm?
