I just tried talking to the online support via chat. Explained my situation, and they said I needed to talk to customer service at the club. That's who instructed me to talk to online support because they had no idea what I was talking about.
Online support said that they needed proof I signed up with a promo. How am I supposed to give proof when I signed up a month ago, I didn't screenshot the page of me using the promo code because I assumed it would just.....work?
So I asked for a refund to my CC, they said they can't. So I said I'll unfortunately have to do a charge back, and then the rep said sorry she couldn't be of more help and ended the chat on me.
Insane.

Going through the rounds of no $50 off in app and no gc … gotta fight and prove to Sam's club again …
Long version if you want to read my rant:
Signed up on 12/3. Finally got to the store this morning because it is not close to my house so had to make a schedule to go. One of the most miserable experiences I've ever had at a retailer!!!
Shopped my order and tried the scan and go. It wouldn't take $50 off my purchase. I went to CS desk and waited in a nice long line for a very rude rep to tell me that it won't work on the scan and go, I have to go through the line.
So then I wait in the checkout line. Get to the register, the $50 won't come off. The cashier tells me that I'll get reimbursed within 6 weeks after purchasing. I don't believe this is accurate, so I go back to CS. This time the same rude rep tells me that they don't offer $50 off first purchase so I must have purchased through a third party and she can't help me. I tell her I bought it straight from Sam's club website. She says there's nothing she can do so I just returned the cart of groceries.
Called Sam's club customer service and told them to cancel my membership. They said they will give me a $50 gift card if I keep my membership. I told them they'd have to do better than that because I wasted time and gas money the first trip. They transferred me to a 'retention representative.' This person offered me a $50 gift card and an upgrade to Sam's+ so I could ship what I wanted for free and wouldn't have to go back to the store. I agreed to this because I felt like they were truly trying to fix my experience. However, after 10 minutes on hold, he comes back and says he can only offer the upgrade but not the $50 credit because they don't see the promo on my account. I told him I have the email with the promo code in it. He says he can't do anything else so I just cancelled my membership.
I asked to be transferred to a manager. Explained the whole thing to them and they said they'd pass my feedback onto corporate. So basically, they couldn't care less.
All this deal gave me was a wasted Saturday morning, loss of $10 in gas, and loss of another $20-$30 in savings at other stores I was going to get while I was out but couldn't go because of all the time spent at Sam's trying to work this out.
