Interesting because I've been using Kirkland for decades and can't recall ever seeing a bag failure, even when they are heavily stretched and stuffed. Again they are nearly twice as thick as these.

Same here. We pack the kitchen one full and can't remember kirklands ever getting holes, except when i use them to clean up sticks in the yard.
