Not gonna tell you how, but I will say why: because many peoe want to avoid as much animal cruelty and exploitation as possible so they choose to be vegan, and sometimes they miss the flavors of stuff they had before they went vegan so now there is alternatives to immigrate that.

vegetarian = no meat
vegan = no animal products at all

I also thought these things before but now we deal with a dairy/egg allergy @ home so vegan fake stuff is my life now.

Wow! I did not realize some people do not know that there are people who have allergies that could be fatal. My child has been allergic to milk, eggs, wheat and other foods. I buy this so he could have his own "cream cheese " while his brother eats his real cream cheese so he wouldn't feel like he's missing out. I brought his whole class the very expensive non-dairy chocolate bars called Enjoy Life too for Halloween. That is so he wouldn't feel left out. That is why products like this NEED to exist!

I got this based on a random recommendation from an acquaintance. I have a stupidly low lactose tolerance, so getting cream cheese back on my menus would be nice.

It's…interesting. The texture is pretty darned close, but the flavor mostly just a mild "salty" without any of the sourness or taste of cream cheese. Its not bad, it's just not quite a replacement.
