Not sure about the refurb status, but the Marantz SR8015 is an Awesome receiver/AVR. I did not compare it to the RXA8A at the time, but I did with other Yamaha receivers and thought the SR8015 was superior. In fact, if you look at the new Marantz Cinema line, the SR8015 is the top dog, except for the ability to have 4 independent subs on some of the models.

Amazing find OP!

It's still alive, had to pay tax in GA but can't beat the price.

Their listing on eBay is for $2800 and from the Q&A it says it comes with only 1-year warranty, so directly from their website is a much better deal.
