In the market for this model. Anyone have a prediction on if we'll see a lower price over Black Friday?
Not really. Done some research and it's a toss up. Garmin is notorious for going after resellers and banning any kind of discounts. That's why you would see "store credit" promotions on various resellers trying to work around the issues. Last black Friday was not particularly exciting.
Great deal, else you'll pay $399 directly from Garmin after applying their 20% coupons (myunidays or via insurance deal sites' coupons). Free returns for 60 days this site says, but I don't know if they are trustworthy.
Excellent deal - if you're on the fence, I'd pull the trigger. Also, skip solar. Not enough payoff.
Had mine about a month now and max it gains about 1.5%/hour at 100 solar intensity, but uses about 6.5%/day (I'm using sleep tracking as well). I'm charging about every twelve days (at ~20% remaining) because there's just no reasonable way in day to day use to get enough light on the watch face for enough time to really extend it by much. Any use of the GPS is a huge drain, so lots of time outdoors in bright sunlight would only help battery life if you aren't using positioning.
In some weird emergency where you still want to count steps (?) You can prop it up on something and let it charge in sunlight, but that's super silly compared to a dozen other ways to prepare for getting lost or such.
