"Switching off the flashlight automatically disengages batteries from the circuit"

So it has an on/off switch?
It might not be marketing fluff. Just this past week, I've had 2 flashlights that had batteries in them for a couple years, have battery acid caked on the inside of the battery compartment. It was so caked on I basically just threw away the flashlights. When I read the part that says: "reduce corrosion" that sounds like this flashlight mitigates that issue.
Marketing got involved with this!

" When you switch off your Coleman flashlight, Battery Guard technology completely disengages the battery to maintain brightness twice as long, and extend battery life by 25%."

Worth as a backup at least because I use flashlights so rarely but do have power outages from time to time.

Does anyone know if you can swap in an 18650 instead of the 3xAAA like most other flashlights? I would assume yes but I've seen a few here with the same configuration but the 18650 is just slightly too long for the cap to close. An insight would be great as I would otherwise pick a couple of these up if they do because of the low cost!

Got this last time it was on sale. After owning it, I think you would probably do better to find a nice solid (less plastic feel) flashlight.for a couple dollars more. Still, okay for the price.

Wait, why wouldn't one just have extra batteries that aren't in anything and ready to power a light? 🤔

Let me guess. You have Duracell batteries?

"shipping is free w/ RedCard or on orders of $35+"

This is incorrect information in the post. The item only ships on $35 orders period, so not free shipping even with red card.
