If this can be used to store games and play games from it, what benefit does it offer over an internal nVME Gen 4 SSD? Are speeds faster or the same given that one would have to use a USB 3.1 connection?

Suryasis, can you please respond? I'm thinking of backing off from an internal SSD and getting this as it's a pain to yank the lid of a Lenovo Legion 5.
Thanks.

If you have a choice between this and an NVME4 SSD, the NVME will be about 5 times faster (max speeds on both drives)

The benefit of this is not needing to open your PC, or if you don't have an nvme gen 4 slot open (or have none at all) and the fact it's portable.

An internal one would work better if you don't need the portability and if you have an open nvme slot.

Drop Protection, IP55 Water and Dust Resistance, X-ray and Shock Proofing , basically a faster portable SSD drive

Can this drive be useful as a daily-drive for storing/accessing personal data? Not any HD res files, but as a backup for phone's data and personal docs? How fail-proof and reliable is this drive?

This is just extra storage. You can backup whatever you want here, but you would need to do it manually. If you want automated backup, then you will need to find separate software to do that. You can use this beyond just backups. You can install applications or games to this. You can store photos here. If you are trying to treat this as a phone backup, then it's not particularly well suited mainly because you have to do everything yourself.

Frankly, Android phones with a Google account connected will back everything up for you automatically (photos, apps, all your data) if you enabled it, so I don't understand why you are worrying about this. I assume iPhones have something similar. If you didn't enable or allow Google or Apple to automatically back everything up / upload it to the cloud - then you really are just creating giant headaches for yourself.

Is sandisk SSD any better than there SD cards and thumb drives, I've had several fail on me thru normal use. I always follow written procedure and they still fail.

It looks like they show it as being about 2 years old, which is probably where that price came from.

SanDisk seems like one of those brands that is always very heavily discounted, whether it's an SSD or a memory card, to the point I can't really trust whatever their MSRP might be.

I think a big reason is to make it feel like you're getting a great deal on it, when you might otherwise not have bought if it was $199 on sale for $149

The original Price for 2TB is $164, with a $20 discount makes it $144. some higher-end memory modules have higher prices.
