I'm proud. 3 years after getting my life together they finally approved me for this lol. A small deal for most but I was hyped when I saw it.

Credit reports are a scam unless you are dirt poor. They didn't exist before the 80s. You take a small point hit for closing a credit card, and 6 months later you'll have a 150+ increase for no reason. It's stupid.

People's credit scores go down when they pay off debt. It's a stupid system you shouldn't give a shit about unless you're broke and under 300.

Got this card on Prime Day earlier this year while exactly at 5/24. So yes it does not seem as restrictive as regular Chase cards. YMMV as always.

why would anyone cancel a credit card? never a sound financial decision
Thats not true. If you have plenty of credit lines open to keep your utilization down low and you want to cancel a more recent card it will actually help you. Never cancel your older or oldest cards but recent ones are absolutely fine. If the card is a more recent card it will lengthen your overall credit age therefore positive for your score. Bonus tip. If you are canceling a card that you have 2 with the same issuer most of the time they will let you transfer the credit to the other card and that will help your utilization stay the same. You should probably stop giving financial advice because clearly you don't know what you are talking about.

Thank you! I was holding off for the $200 BF promo. Before this, I was thinking of jumping on the $150 promo, but held off and hoping to see the $200 again.

You can only apply 5 new credit cards (including non chase cards) in a 24 month period. Some cards are not counted.

Can both people in a shared household sign up and get the bonus or is it limited to 1?

Deal is now live. I tried prequalifying and said I would be approved with $200 gift card.

If I'm am to do this for real, how soon can I close this account and still improve my 780 credit score? 1 year? 18 months? 6 months? 5 weeks? Anyone knows?

I have too many credit cards and some old one. Don't need a lot of new one with in the past 12 months.

I also don't shop at Amazon except Nov-Jan only every year.

So, I applied for the credit card but my credit file was locked and the approval did not go through. I got the message saying unfortunately instant approval was not possible and I will be contacted by chase in 2-4 weeks. I have no worry about getting it approved after talking with Chase, but Can someone Please let me know If I will be still honored $200 gift card ? because I applied for it when they were offering it or not?

You don't have to close it unless it has an annual balance, which this card doesn't. Just don't use the card but keep the account open so it helps build your credit history.

If you open more than five credit cards from any card issuer within the past 24 months then Chase won't approve most cards for you.

Chase is strict with 5/24 rule.
