Digital only states

"Apple Promo" on the right hand side. I tried on another account without applying the code and it does not appear, once I applied the code it appears.

Amazon is pretty crappy when indicating whether a promotion code is applied or not. The very first time you enter the code, it will apply but give no indication really. This leads so many users to try entering the code again, and since the code has already been applied to your account, it's going to display an error like the promo can not be applied, thus confusing users.

Anyhow, refresh the checkout page and on the bottom of the "Order Summary" in the grey box, you'll see something like:

Qualifying offers:
Uber Promo Credit
If you don't see that, you could try removing what's in your cart and then re-adding the required amount for the gift card and on checkout, the Order Summary should display in the grey box the "Qualifying offers". Then you'll know the promotion will be applied and can place your order.

Update regarding the terms of the offer. From the gift card product page, at the bottom, you will find "Special offers and product promotions" colored in bold orange text. I'm going to use Uber's gift card page as an example. In this section, it will say something about the offer such as:

For a limited time while supplies last, receive $10.50 in bounceback credits when you spend $50.00 or more on select Uber Email Gift Cards offered by ACI Gift Cards Inc., an Amazon company. Enter the code UBER22. Limited to 1 per customer. Offered by Amazon.com See more products in this promotion [amazon.com]

Notice that it links to a page where you can actually see further details of the terms by clicking on the "Terms". One of the key terms states: "For qualifying purchases, the promotional credit will be automatically applied to the Amazon.com account used to make the qualifying purchase within three (3) days after the qualifying order has shipped. A confirmation email will also be sent to the email address associated with the Amazon.com account used to make the qualifying purchase."

Thus to dispel any probable false notion that people are getting credit immediately, the more likely case is that you're going to get the bounceback credit within 3 days.
