this one is very skippable IMO, but it's not too bad. It's boring in long stretches. Graphics are very dated (look like 2008 graphics). It's also on Game Pass if you happen to have a subscription.

Picked this up a few days ago. Really enjoyable. It's basically Nightmare Before Christmas/Coraline type graphics, so please be aware if you're not into that style.

Gameplay is interesting but a bit annoying at the beginning when you have very few options. Still playing through it. The story is fun, again very much like the art style in that it feels Tim Burton-esque.

Is it possible to buy this in gift form. Like maybe they provide you with a redeem code that can then be redeemed on Christmas morning? Seems like if I buy it now my kids will see it in their account before Christmas. If not is there a way to hide purchased games so I can surprise them later on Christmas?

There is no way to buy it as a code. Codes are available only via retailers.
You can buy it and then remove from the console, but it still be marked as purchased in eShop and listed in re-download list. You can set up eShop to ask password on using it.
