Is there any way to buy a code and not redeem it immediately? I want to buy digital, but it says 'direct download' as the only option. I don't want it to show up on my kid's switch until xmas... Thanks for any pointers!

Not through the eShop. Amazon and Best Buy have a few digital code sales that you could do that depending on the game you're looking for
