The normal method for size of a device with a screen is the diagonal dimension of the screen not the vertical dimension of the unit. For instance, Amazon advertises the 2018 kindle as having a 6" display and the newest kindle paperwhite with a 6.8" display. Yet the devices are 6.6" and 6.9" tall respectively.

I agree that it would be more clear to say 6" or 6" display so as not to confuse it with the new kindle with a 6.8" display.

I'm not sure that following a badly formed previous post (with respect to size) is a good reason to continue with it. I'd err on the side of mirroring descriptions that the manufacturer and or industry uses.

That said it's a great deal. I've been very happy with refurbished kindles in the past.

This is a good point, and since you are the second person to suggest this I went ahead and updated the title and post. I had also included the "2018" and "10th gen", but hopefully this will make it very clear

some people say you can call amazon and ask them to remove it.
but there is no point really, the ads are on the screen only when kindle is off. they usually show some book, related to what you reading. Or you can just turn off wifi on it, and ads will not show up at all, it will just switch to some screen saver picture when you turn it off.

Thanks! In size specs it's actually listed as Size: 6.6" x 4.6" x 0.3" ( 167 x 116 x 8.18 mm).
I went with 6.6" because it mirrored other deals posted by the community like this one for the new version: https://slickdeals.net/f/16195261-kindle-paperwhite-2018-model-10th-gen-59-99-free-shipping-for-prime-members-60

Appreciate the feedback!

Really like the new version over this one, but for $40 it's worth grabbing one. Got one for my mother, as I'm not sure she would even use it.

I wasn't a fan of this Kindle.

The screen is a bit too...smooth. Previous gen paperwhite had a rougher screen surface, it feels much better to turn pages on it. I bought it for the "flush" screen hype, but ended up just returning it.

You can. You'll need an app like Overdrive to borrow the book to your Kindle account

Yes so long as the library uses Overdrive.

A good deal, but having recently upgraded my kindle paper white to the latest generation, the screen refresh speed alone is a game changer for me. The latest one is super quick compared to this one. Just an FYI if someone is comparing the two models.

There is no performance difference between this paperwhite 4 vs paperwhite 3 (2015). Many reviewers have listed with the introduction of plastic screen on PW4 it's more glossy and prone to smudge. I will wait for 2015 again.

I love my paperwhite, but I think the name should be changed. I can't see it now without seeing the word "paperweight" lol

Because no one reads anymore...
