This is a very good deal. Unless prices drop on Friday or Monday, this is the lowest price per TB out there at the moment... I would gladly pull the trigger, except WD is a crappy vendor that is famous for terrible packaging and shipping their hard drives and then refusing to resolve the problems they created in the first place. As much as I want to get a couple of these drives, I will wait for Amazon or Newegg to match this price.

You can probably email Honey (that's who PayPal does the CB thru) and have it added. You just have to send them a picture of the receipt showing all the pertinent info

This is same price as their previous sale in July 2022. Using 2x8TB in 920+ -- runs well, but a tiny bit noisy. Was well packaged from WD no complaint on that front for me. Saved up some $ so planning on getting 2 more.

Synology Hybrid RAID (SHR) is Synology's automated RAID management system. SHR allows users to create a flexible storage solution with optimized capacity and performance. I second this. I have two sets of 8TB in raid 1 and I am getting ready to add two new 14TB drive and found I can use 2 of the 8TB in SHR with these for 30TB of total space (instead of 22 if I just upgraded one of the raid1 pairs). But now I have to break both of the raid1 pairs with a greater amount of effort to do so. If I had just gone with SHR in the first place I could have easily just swapped them out as SHR dynamically grows your available space based on your drive config..

It's probably related to SMR vs CMR.

SMR drives require more cache for them to function so 256mbs of cache can be an indicator of a SMR drive but they are less desirable for NAS and other purposes. The base Red drives should be SMR but the Plus/Pro models are CMR.
