If you don't want/need the extra batteries and also prefer the rear handle, the Home Depot hack can get you the saw, 2 - 5.0 batteries and charger for $137.46.
I don't see the Home Depot deal - can you point me please? Thanks!

Yes, just batteries alone this is a good deal.
Exaggerating much? Amazon got optimum charger & bag to go along with the 2 batteries for $150, says $175 is normal price. These aren't the old discontinued ones either.

I purchased this exact same kit except rear handle from HD on Apr 7, 2021 for $249. I thought it was a great deal then for saw, charger, bag, and 4 batteries. At 200 it's a no brainer if you need either the saw or the batteries.

I've only used the saw a handful of times cutting posts not rip cuts, and I intentionally went after the rear handle for an easier to see blade. Turns out I prefer a right side blade like the one here, at least for what I was doing. These motors have tons of power with 2 batteries pushing them.

You just proved his point. By your link, this is $300 (ok, $295) worth of batteries for $200. It excellent value on just the batteries alone.

Man, I already have the 6 1/2" saw but that's tempting for the batteries alone and having beefier circular saw option is never a bad thing.
It's a seriously more capable saw. I use one every day. It's heavy but it's incomparable to the standard saw

Wrong picture. It links you to the sidewinder style which is fine and that looks like the 40v vs the 36v x2

Photos in the deal post are a bit misleading. Thought this was for the 40v, which would have been an insane deal. Also shows a photo of the rear handle, which is $259, not $199. Would recommend removing those two images from the deal post.

For Makita stuff, I just scan for 3 letters, if it's LXT than I know it's their 18V.
If it shows XGT, I know it belongs to their 40V line of products.
No head scratching here

You do realize this saw comes with 4 batteries total? That's 2 of your starter packs worth of batteries. That's where I got the $295 from. Or does the $148 starter pack come with 2 free batteries right now for 4 total?
