I hate to ask a dumb question, but.... Can this pellet grill also be used to flame broil? I am under the impression that one must purchase the side burner to grill hamburgers, for instance.

Yes you can if it's a model that has the slide and grill option (this one doesn't). It allows the burner plate and tray to slide out of the way to expose the flame.

Most people use a sear box to reverse sear your steaks and hamburgers. I have the sidekick on mine with the griddle and also use the barbecue box for searing. Works great.
