Oh, no question. I'm just saying I have a a backlog of PCVR that I could (or, if you ask my wife, should) play before buying yet another game. I'd probably get it if I were invested in the HL series, but I skipped that phase of gaming (left somewhere around doom/myst/WCIII and didn't pick it back up until Witcher III.
You don't really need to be well versed in HL. It definitely adds a lot if you already were.

Why post a single game sale when 1000 other games are also on sale? Ridiculous.

Positives: Amazing with quest 2, a Wi-Fi 6 router, and virtual desktop.

Negatives: I hit my ceiling fan trying to throw a grenade over a wall

I was curious & watched a play through. The game seems overrated for the gameplay; maybe the VR experience is so spectacular that it makes it more special than the what the gameplay seems to be.
Nah it's a hugely polished game and way better in person. It's honestly the coolest gaming experience I've ever had and it's amazing the whole way through.

I personally haven't seen many people hyping the "gameplay" but yes the gameplay itself isn't anything phenomenal. It's just a linear shooter type game. But as far as a VR experience it's hands down one of the best there is available. Extremely well put together and there are many custom games/mods that add a ton of value since some of them are pretty much complete missions themselves. Easily Easily worth $24

I even picked up Black Mesa a while a ago - haven't touched that either (like I said, mountain of backlog). Now, I really don't where to start. LOL. Can I skip HL1? Should I?
Black Mesa is a good start, then HL2 and DLC, then Alyx.

Do you need a Valve Index to fully enjoy this? With all the fancy finger tracking tech?
No... I play this on the Rift S and it's hands down the best VR experience I have had.

EAsily the best VR game I have played. It ruined all other VR games since. It's just unmatched in visuals and controls.

This game is amazing. Video card is 100% important for this game. Make sure you have at least a 1060 6gb video card though. I tried it with a 1050ti 4gb and a 3gb 1060 and it wouldn't load well

You are in the game. The immersion is like anything I have ever experienced in a video game.

Was debating on grabbing a Wifi 6 router specifically for the quest wireless connection

can a lenovo legion 5 pro (16gb ram) with rtx 3070 (the laptop from a walmart slickdeal 2021), can i play this game with that one? if so, what vr headset would i need? im sorry im not that familiar with playing vr… thanks in advance
Quest 2 works with it, Ethernet and link cable works best. I have Wi-Fi 6 and also upgraded the Wi-Fi in my Lenovo legion 5 pro. I haven't played it wireless since the last quest update.

Does a original quest 1 work for this on Wi-Fi? Only link cable?
