I have this saw. It's definitely not a STIHL and feels a bit cheap and plasticky, but it does work well. I love being able to just turn it on and go, and being quiet is an added bonus. So I'm sold on the electric, not necessarily this particular unit (although good price here.)

My 4Ah is going on 5 years now and still about 70-80% capacity at least and it gets regular heavy use in the lawnmower.

The key to lithium-ions is:

1) Avoid deep discharge them whenever possible
2) Even if you do run them empty NEVER let them sit discharged
3) Never let them get crazy hot (specially charging/discharging) or extremely cold (especially charging/discharging.)

Those simple rules will keep your lithiums running strong a lot longer than 2-3 years.

I have their little 12" 40v saw and feel the same way. If I felt like I needed a bigger saw I'd absolutely get this but the 12" works for my needs.

Any input on runtime? Is the 2.5Ah battery decent or am I only making a few cuts?

Depends so much on the wood, blade sharpness, etc. Short answer is you'll run out the 2.5Ah battery pretty quickly (15-30 minutes of on/off cutting?), but if you have 2x of them or a 2.5Ah and 4Ah and cycle between them you can work pretty consistently without too much downtime as far as small yard projects are concerned.

The 18" bar with the 5 Ah is a better tool but not a BF deal.

How's their 60V line? Sometime I'll have to upgrade my old 40V Black and Decker set of yard tools but I want to settle on my set of batteries for all the yard tools.

I have this and have been using it to clean up the fallen tress in the woods around my property. Has worked great and gone through a lot of wood. Now I'm looking for a deal on the 18" tool only version. Highly recommended.

What's the biggest tree you've cut through?

Ego battery equipment is prolly the gold standard for non commercial use. The problem with ego is they are only for lawn stuff. Yes, they have a lot of really good lawn stuff, but it's another battery system you have to keep up with.
Depending on what battery system you have I would recommend looking into that tool system. For example, I have the Milwaukee chainsaw and my dad has the $400 greenworks chainsaw and there is a MASSIVE difference in quality between the 2. My milwaukee was good enough for me to sell my 2 sthil on marketplace. It cuts about 80% of a stihl, but obviously can't run all day like a gas can. My brother has the dewalt version and it is a decent step up from green works, but nowhere near as good as my milwaukee imo. Neighbor has the ego and I've seen him abuse that thing and it keeps on purring so like I said in my first comment it would be equivalent if not better than my Milwaukee. The ryobi also has some very good reviews. YouTube is your frie d on getting reviews on all these electric tools.

I have the 4.0Ah. Either battery is really only for cleaning up a few branches or maybe a small tree. Great saw for those purposes, but don't expect to lean on it like a gas saw and work for hours.

2.5 ah battery max 15 min. I have 2 5ah and 1 4ah but runtime is not good plus recharge takes long time. Not to forget battery will go bad in 2 to 3 years max. I am not sure why they have to make so many different voltage of battery other than making customers buy more
