looks good, memory is soldered though.
It's $299. Fine for most casual users
Over 6000 passmark. Will be fine for 90% of average non gamer users.

For the price though, I'd rather have 2 more cores. This one from staples is a little more long term viable and 50 dollars cheaper if you can find it on your area. There was also a 12th green i3 lenovo about two months ago if you're willing to spend 50 dollars more and be patient. That'll definitely be more future proof than this two core i3. At this point I highly don't recommend anyone getting a dual core machine of any kind even for casual use.

It's true, this is a beast at single thread performance, the limiting factor is poor integrated graphics and 8GB ram

Debating between this and the Ideapad 1i on sale at target for my in-laws. I'm leaning towards the Costco deal because of the IPS screen, it's just a bummer the cpu is weaker. They want a 14" laptop and there seems to be fewer deals available at that size.

So that they have a product in every category? The i3-1115G4 is perfectly capable for web browsing and the like - it's as fast as a 10th-gen Core i5.

Costco has the Lenovo Flex 5 14" 2-in-1 with a 12th gen processor (i3-1215U) for $399. 6 cores vs 2 on the 11154g. Might be worth an extra hundo for a better CPU.

Nobody in comments has mentioned this is S mode... which means ms store apps only

I'm 95% sure you can break it into normal windows mode, I do wonder about performance then, but cursory glance of review from notebookcheck on the CPU said it performs as well as the preceding years quad cores from Ryzen and something else, HT gives it 4 threads so I trust it will handle normal things fine

I'm on the same exact boat with buying for in-laws. Ended up getting the Costco deal just because it's for basic streaming and the flex 5 can be turned into a tablet as well. I know my mother-in-law watches on her laptop a lot, so we convenient with the touch screen as well.

CPU is quad core, not 2 cores.
