Do you even have a PS5?
PS5 only cares about gen 4. It could be the worst gen4 and PS5 don't give a crap.
And based on review, as well as my own experience, no game to date take advantage of gen 4 speed. Even the worst gen 4 SSD tested by digital foundry shows no meaningful difference between the inetnal drive, and the best gen4 disk

Each dollars counts and it is Slickdeals but the p41 at $169 on Amazon is also super tempting !

Amazon review:
"TLDR: please avoid the 2TB version if possible.

After I transferred my entire Steam/EPIC library to the new drive, the speed dropped drastically and we are now talking about SATA level of performance. This is less than half of what Kingston promised to deliver and I have decided to return it. The 2TB version uses a DIFFERENT controller than the 1TB version reviewed by TPU, the different firmware version confirms it."

They don't officially say. Kingston doesn't guarantee the components of their lower end drives like this, they only promise some basic minimum performance. Early units have been TLC, but they could switch to QLC at any point.

This seems like a Gen 3 drive marketed as a Gen 4 drive.
The Gen 3 versions of SK Hynix P31 and Samsung 970 Evo Plus have same read, but faster write.
3500mb/s - 2300mb/s - Kingston
3500mb/s - 3200mb/s - SK Hynix P31 ($150 2tb @ amazon)
3500mb/s - 3300mb/s - Samsung 970 Evo Plus (Has been $150 many times)
what about WD Blue 2TB for $134?

That's a SATA drive! Not even the same type of drive (NVME).

Really slow (560mbs/530mbs) vs the speed that I listed.

Only get a SATA drive if your laptop is really old and doesn't support NVME.

Thanks for the clarification. So the best and undisputed economy drive does seem to be this 2TB one for $110

That's very cheap for 2tb!, but I'd only use that for a second drive or game drive.

I'd go with a trusted name brand for installing Windows on.

Agree; for a primary drive with operating system, I'd move up from economy to md-tier.

I went with the Solidigm P41 Plus and it's benchmarked on my PS5 as 3,500MB/s.

Tested it for the past few days without any perceivable slowdown compared to running games off the internal NVMe drive.

This whole 5,000MB/s thing is nonsense for gaming reads / writes.

I've also installed a nice aluminum heatsink shroud (2 pack for 10 bucks on Amazon to keep the drive cool inside my PS5.

At $110 you can't go wrong with it.

Thinking about getting this for my PS5 But I nothing about these sort of things. Which heatsink did you go with or suggest for the P41 Plus? Thanks!

FYI, B&H adds an extra $10 coupon to the 2TB model, which makes it $120.
