Costco has the last gen Apple TV 4K for $79.99 and $99.99 (32 and 64 gig respectively). Might be worth it if threading or Ethernet is a priority since that isn't available in the new 32 gig version.

Will it go lower. That's the question.

Same price on Amazon.

Repped. Thank you. I previously bought the 32GB model when it dropped to $99. I'll return that one, and keep the $79.99 one since Amazon doesn't price match. I don't need the extra space because I only use it for streaming apps. I don't download Apple Arcade games on there.

Same here.

Seems such a waste to return an item just for a price match.

I wonder how much money they lose annually to not price matching prior purchases. It would be much easier to refund the difference or put it on a gift card vs having you return it to UPS. It's so annoying...

It would be easier, but they don't want to make it easier for you! Also most people aren't slickdealers getting updated prices / deals - after they buy it, they just use it - so it's probably a really tiny cost for them.

Amazon used to do it, until few years ago IIRC if you reached out to them. Then there were automated services (ex: Paribus) that you could use, which would login to your Amazon account and scour your purchases and see if there was a cheaper price available.

And they'd even reach out to support automatically do a price adjustment for you. And it worked. And it was free (at first). And so many of them used it, then the services started charging a portion of the refund they got you which was still cheap and saved you money because one wouldn't keep checking the items they ordered anyways.

And since so many of them started using it, Amazon started losing a shit ton of money, and they eventually nixed the price adjustment / match requests. I can's say for sure if this was the only reason, but this was one of the reasons and I read about it. Even today, you can use the "tell us about a lower price" button on the item's page, but it's not guaranteed to work.

I'm not saying that Amazon isn't losing money from the returns nowadays and they are, but this is one of the reasons why they stopped doing PMs.

Costco too after 30 days. It makes no sense to me either from an environmental perspective (each company tells us how supposedly environmentally friendly they are…B.S. marketing) or from a profit/loss perspective because all these return items require processing in addition to the shipping cost.

Mail in rebates take a lot more effort on the part of the company too. But they are a positive proposition because…?

Now apply the same logic here.

I think I rather get the 3rd generation instead, lot faster and better Wi-Fi support.

Technically yes, but in real world application, is it really faster? I'm still on a 2017 Apple TV 4k 5th gen with the crappy remote, and it's still blazing fast. I don't use the Apple TV to play games, I have an Xbox hooked up to the same TV for that. How much faster will Netflix really open between this one and the lastest model, like 1 second?

great deal if you want apple tv. In my mind, the only minor downside is the remote charges with lightning, but not an issue if you have iphones.
