Avoid this cheap chair as it can possibly hurt you.

Bought this chair design but under a different brand name from Amazon in early 2020. The lumbar support rod for the lower back is metal but the frame is plastic. Can be seen in the side view picture of the website. After a few months of use, the rod popped out of its groove and over the frame, pushing into the mesh material; the rod was pushing into my lower back. I tried fitting the rod back into the groove but it didn't hold and kept popping over the frame. The issue cannot be fixed with out jury rigging it. Left a review for the chair on Amazon but it no longer comes up, probably due to the item no longer being listed under its original name/brand. Was listed on Amazon as SmugChair Ergonomic High Back Mesh Office Desk Chair.
I've been using a Hyken chair for years with no problems. Others have used a Dexley. We're talking thousands of people. I don't buy the arbitrary $300+ argument.

As someone who reviews ergonomic office equipment for a living... if you work all day at a desk, don't buy something cheap. Save up for a good chair. Any "ergonomic" office chair <$300ish is going to fall apart on you, have poor ergonomics, or both.

What would you recommend for the best budget ergonomic chair?

No, we haven't. We don't generally review white label/no-name brands because of the lack of long-term support.

I can't speak of the chair mentioned here, as I don't own it, but will throw out a budget recommendation --

DPS Gaming 3D chair, sold at Costco --
https://www.costco.com/dps-gaming...01483.html

For years I went through Staples chairs that tended to get soft within a year, then began to shed, and by the 2 year mark was useless (and uncomfortable). I had low expectations with the Costco chair, but figured with their return policy, "Why not?"

I've had it a year now, and it still has its cushioning, offers support and no shedding. And if it does begin to degrade, again, Costco will just take it back. I can't say it compares to $500+ chairs, but it's certainly fine for me (and I sit in it a lot).

Edit: And I see online it's listed out of stock. Check in-store if anyone is interested.

I call bull on the pricing of office chairs. The manufacturer knows that businesses are willing to pay > $300 per chair when my budget mesh chair is perfect for my needs. IMO, Ergonomics is just marketing bs. As long as you have adjustable arms and height/back you should be good.

Couldn't you buy 2 of these chairs store one for parts and still come out on top over 10+ years like I doubt it'd fall to much apart. But that said I wouldn't know and you'd know … but part out and repair and likely still half priced.

I stole my office chair from work when I worked from home at a previous location. Good chair so I could get the difference

this is INCREDIBLY cheap and flimsy. strongly suggest you budget for something a little higher quality that will last.
