Ugh this not be a good gimbal at $20 but I figure I could use it as a tripod or selfie stick at least. Nope. The thing has to be on and powered otherwise your phone just flops on it like a dead fish. Worse yet is it requires you to download an app to use it. So yeah..wish I hadn't bought this piece of junk. It also didn't hold my phone very well with a case on it. I might be able to get it to work if I tried a bit harder but I just don't think it would work really well if I got it working exactly as it should. I would pass.
If you walk and film, you'd want the Smooth Q3.
Otherwise, you'll noticed a noticeable bounce with each step you take in the Smooth X. If you're okay with filming from a static location, the Smooth X would work.
However, be wary that older gimbals might not be able to support the weight and size of newer devices. In one Q&A, the vendor said it was best suited for the iPhone 11.

Other biggest gripe: the joystick must have some drift because on mine if you are trying to focus on a subject it will slowly move to one side. Which brings up another issue; the panning is kludgy and jerky even in the slowest speed setting. And you can't pan by moving your wrist because the gimbal insists on compensating and keeping it pointing the same direction. The one axis most people would never want a gimbal to stabilize. Was filming a concert and when zoomed in (that 10x super-telephoto lens is awesome!) and the lead singer moved around the footage came out herky-jerky as I tried to follow with the joystick. Usually the point of a gimbal is you can move your hands or body and the movement is stabilized. But this carries it too far and basically prevents some of that movement.
Other quibbles... The app can only record at max 4K 30 fps while my phone goes up to 8K and I usually record in 4K 69 fps. It only has 8x zoom and only seems to use one lens, while I have 4 different lenses on the back of my phone with 10x optical zoom and 100x digital zoom on the Samsung camera app. They shouldnt be making a camera app. Just figure out a way to have the controls work in the built in apps.
Now I have to decide if I should return it and eat the shipping, or try to get a warranty replacement and hope that at least fixes the annoying drift.
