Isn't knowing your current family bad enough?
I bought this promo last year at Christmastime and found out my children and I are eligible for European citizenship! Then I was able to research to locate all the documents and information needed to apply. So for me, it was well worth the $99. My only regret is not doing it sooner. *Tip: be sure to download all important documents to your computer because you will lose access to them once you cancel your paid membership. The free membership locks you out of that access even though you saved them to your account during paid membership.
Likewise. Filed for and received Luxembourg citizenship this past January for me and my three kids. The opportunities this opens up for my work, my children, their studies, etc. is enormous.

I have an ongoing membership with a lot of information added to the multiple trees that I maintain. IF I un-select auto-renewal, will I be able to use a 'gift' membership bought during this sale to 'gift' to myself for a renewal? Most subscriber services do allow but wanted to see what people say here before flipping the switch. Thx

I'm from the Philippines, with no known immediate family that served in the military. I only know names that go back to my great-grand parents. Is there any hope of going deeper onto my ancestry?

I couldn't find anything, all that Ancestry was able to find was my own data.

This website is kind of neat to animate old pictures.

Guessing they did something similar with the Phoenix - Alpha music video [youtube.com]. Smilie

Interesting fact: people can find out your mother's maiden name from this. Pretty significant

Gift membership is not something that can be added while another subscription is in play. If your current membership period is up for renewal in next 90 days you buy a gift membership then when yours runs out or ends you add the gift subscription at that time. Terms are detailed on the offer on the site. I did this last year.

If your membership lapses you don't lose your trees just access to the linked records if applicable. If you choose to renew or resubscribe your linked access is restored. It is always good to have back ups though.

I've been waiting for this. My citicard has 20% back on Ancestry, and I was hoping there would also be a good cashback offer at one of the CB sites, too. (as someone has already found).

I have all my trees private, and don't have my real name as a username on the site. You can't go on ancestry on any trees I've made and see what's on there at all, much less see my mother's maiden name. It's all in how you use this.

If someone else puts a family tree up with my mother's name, I can't stop them, nor can you stop any of your extended family from doing the same, so that has nothing to do with whether you personally use Ancestry or not. But since I'm alive, and so is my mother, most people even on their public trees have it set to not show the names of living people.

Just curious how this service was able to facilitate this? I assume you found an unknown immediate family or heritage of one that allows sponsorship or some type of inheritance of citizenship from a European country?

Seems like you were aware of the risk going in.

In reality, most information that has since become valuable for authentication purposes is probably accessible without this (can be found through public records). This probably just makes it easier/quicker. Hopefully, the bad folks out there are missing it but sure they are.
