I just don't understand the plasma love. My family has a pioneer plasma from a while back and it 1) consumes a ridiculous amount of energy (700W) 2) black backgrounds are ridiculously white washed (like a cheap LCD) 3) insanely loud buzzing noise constantly emanates from the tv. Real clunker I can't wait to get rid of.

Color rendition/reproduction (true blacks for e.g) is just too good and OLED is the only one that comes near to it.

Is this worth the almost $600 more than the $599 65" TCL R646 deal posted here a few days ago? Debating whether to cancel that for this.

I too have a plasma TV. As the other person said, you are incorrect. Plasma TVs have a fairly terrible picture compared to seemingly any TV out there. Terrible blacks, faint colors, weird artifacts, and yeah that buzzing sound. That it doubles as a furnace as it cranks up your electric bill doesn't help either.

Hey, at least they finally got rid of their 32" Trinitron to buy that plasma! Now they'll finally get rid of that plasma after 25 years!

So goddamn tempting but I don't have a PS5 yet, which is my primary use case for this TV to replace my 55" OLED. If a G1/G2 goes on sale, though, I'm biting. I NEED that TV for the living room!
