Echos louder, more bass but harsher sound.
Sonos cleaner sound.

I would say Sonos is really good for more chilling background music. Echo sounds like partying all time. Not sure if I describe it correctly.

I own several Echo Studios throughout my house and love them. Once you own one you won't want to use any other Echo (other than a Show). These put out a pretty decent quality sound and have much better sound than the other Echos. I dont see them go in sale that often. I may get another.. 😉

I've bought these before. One a few weeks ago. Amazon farked up the trade discount every time. I had to bug tech support for a credit and got transferred to more than one person.

Is there an actual difference? Far as I know there's no hardware refresh on the studios and just a firmware update.

Agreed. I have 2 on opposite sides of the kitchen for stereo sound. A big step up from the other models.

Does anyone have any experience on how the Studio compares to two stereo-paired echos? The stereo-paired echos would give you more woofer and tweeter, but the Studio has speakers in three directions.

Got this for $70 from Dell by splitting the purchase across two Amex cards with the $50 off $100 offers applied on both and stacking 15% cash back offer on top. Still, this is a great price because you don't have to jump through all those hoops. Really enjoy the sound quality but wish the voice recognition was slightly better. Specifically, recognition of titles in foreign languages. Hopefully this is something that can be addressed with software updates

I personally wish I had gone the Sonos route as this thing has been super finicky with syncing to other alexa devices in the house. It also has very slow response to voice commands. I don't know, maybe I just got a dud.

Slightly gross oversimplification. Echo dots can hang on outlet which in itself is a utility; my 4 yr old 2nd gen $50 echos holding up well in large room, of course they won't sound 3x cost. Lastly all the above can easily connect to any BT speaker in any room; e. g. my show connects to sound bar + sub & b/r other echo to mackie studio monitors & garage dot to bose mini soundlink. Point being many already have a lot of speakers how many more do we really need laugh out loud JMO

Don't think so. You can use them as speakers with a fire tv, but not a computer. There's also a slight audio delay that fire TV's automatically compensate for by delaying the picture, but a computer wouldn't do that.

You can use a single speaker over Bluetooth of course, but I don't think that's what you're asking
