Deal History
Deal History includes data from multiple reputable stores, such as Best Buy, Target, and Walmart. The lowest price among stores for a given day is selected as the "Sale Price".

The R1280DBs are on sale as well for 111.99. Essentially the same speakers but the DBs has bluetooth + the option to add a subwoofer down the line. https://www.amazon.com/Edifier-R1...93307?th=1
Actually very solid speakers for how cheap they are. Granted, anything in this price range that is powered isn't going to appeal to the audiophiles, but for someone looking for PC speakers these are a lot better than the crappy logitech speakers this is good
I totally get that debate. Everyone is different so this may just not be your thing but just in case it might help out with a better experience, I'll also offer the suggestion of passive bookshelf speakers and a mini amp if you are willing to hit around $140. That could honestly give most people plenty of the bass response they are looking for without needing to add a sub (heavily dependent on person and model of course) and keep the cost around the same price. Right now, the Sony SSCS5 bookshelf speakers are on sale for $123 on Amazon and I've only heard amazing things about them: https://a.co/d/7gzqXxa
Pair that with one of these basic mini amps for $25 and you have a modular system that will be far more versatile and future proof if you want to upgrade the speakers or amp at some point: https://a.co/d/9ditjkd
That's all about $148 and, after owning several sets of edifiers, I would lean toward the modular system myself.
However, for probably 4/5 people on here, the simplicity that comes with the posted Edifiers, or even the next model up with Bluetooth, is probably more than enough for what they would ever use them for. I happen to be into home theater and audio equipment so the cost increase would be worth it for me to go a little extra but totally not for someone just looking to buy some computer monitors.
Don't mean to ramble or sound preachy. Honestly just thought I would throw something else into the mix to consider.

The DBs also has an optical input, which the 1280T lacks
Thoughts on these versus similarly priced monitors from Presonus and Mackie? I have a young nephew starting out with some audio hobbies (podcasting, music making) so these would be for that kind of work, primarily (with a Focusrite interface, a combo of dynamic and condensor mics, software DAW).
Seems the Presonus and Mackie are more oriented for this sort of thing, no?

I don't consider myself an audiophile by any means but I do like a good quality sound system from one of the better known audio brands. HT set up has Onkyo receiver, Klipsch Reference front towers, Ref Premier center, and Energy surrounds. My main speakers (for my work/gaming area) are Klipsch R-15PMs and I have the 1850DBs in the bedroom. It's insane how good the 1850DBs are, probably 90% as good as the Klipsch but for ~1/2 the price (got both on sale, Klipsh for $250 back in 2018, 1850DBs for $135 in 2020). The Klipsch, to me, always sound perfect vs the 1850DB, the lows are a bit inconsistent- sometimes the bass is fairly impressive but there are times it sounds like bass from those cheap flashy "100000000-wattzzz" speakers. Also specific to the 1850DBs, I hate that they're angled since I actually needed them non-angled given their placement; but obviously I knew that when I thought them, otherwise they checked off every box for me at the time.
If I'm ever in the market for another set of speakers, I'll definitely put Edifiers at or near the top.

I got this speaker, it's not bad, little to no bass extension, so you will need a sub. Sinad is really bad on the integrated amp, but heck it works, for the price / not picky.

the sub out there's no filter or dsp internally.
If you want to replicate sub-out, just use a y adapter, and control volume on the pc

edit: I actually have the Bluetooth version but I assume they sound almost identical.
