Having had both, I would say this version is much easier to set up and seems to work more seamlessly with less hassles. I gave away my black one and replaced it with a white one because it's much more reliable with my opener. Fortunately, the black one works ok for the person I gave it to.

I would always choose the white one over the black one for a new purchase, but if you aren't having problems, it may not be worth replacing it either...

Hub is built into yours. The hub is for those who don't have a MyQ door opener.

I have a 2-door garage. Could I order 2x myQ Smart Garage Control for $16.99 each and use just the door sensor from the second set? Or, do I have to fork over $40 for just the Smart Garage Control door sensor, for the second door?

Yes, works fine, uses https tunnel or something, but fine with cgnat, but not for apple home. Use myQ app

I have a chamberlain garage door opener with the myq unit connected to my switch and no garage door sensors. It knows if the garage door is open, closed, or cracked. Not sure if the sensors are only required for non chamberlain garage doors. My favorite feature is that as a software developer I was able to write a script to make sure my garage door was closed every night. We leave it cracked during the day so the cats can get in and out, but would forget to close it. With this device and my script i can close it and text my phone if it doesn't get closed. If someone comes in and closes the door but a cat triggers it and causes it to stay open it will still get closed or notify me that it didn't. This is in addition to using the app and being able to remotely open or close the door. In my opinion well worth the money even if it is $30.
