I hate you, there is always one person who mentions their lifetime sub in each of these threads. J/k I don't, I'm just jealous. And kicking myself for not pulling the trigger on lifetime back then instead of the 3 yr deal

Have had them for about 6 years now. I don't think we can call them a fly by night company anymore that's looking for a cash grab only to fold tomorrow.

How do you make your travel prices lower?

anyone got another code for >20% besides "JOY30" that's expired? I'm broke af and really need a VPN

Edit: thanks for the "not helpful" reaction, because THAT is definitely helpful. Salty about your company's atrophic profit margins, you're doing what you can to please your TPG overlords aren't ya, Mr. Works-at-Stackcommerce?Applause

How does this compare to Mullvad? My current VPN I'm using and I'm tempted.

Any additional discount to make this price lower? Also is this better than nordvpn? I a, new to vpn and need to buy one since i travel out of country a lot and need USA access sometime.

Thanks.
For your use case, I believe either one will work just fine since they both have multiple datacenter (server) locations in the US.

I have the exact same need. I travel internationally but need to be based in the US when abroad. I am not cost sensitive when it comes to this because it's so important that I have a US IP when online. Just curious if anyone has the same "issue" as gameson and me and can opine. Thanks.

And i also need a vpn that is highly secure since i am logging into sensitive information for example paypal. Paypal won't let you access your usa account when you are overseas. They will suddenly lock your account and you have to contact customer service.

Thanks

I can confirm that I'm able to login to PayPal using NordVPN through one of their US datacenters. You can also test out Windscribe using their free plan [windscribe.com] which includes their US datacenters [windscribe.com] (scroll down to see available countries in free plan).

So what VPN are you using now?
My active subscriptions are: Windscribe, ProtonVPN, Surfshark, PrivateVPN, PureVPN, WeVPN, VPN Unlimited (lifetime), FastestVPN (lifetime), Mudfish (pay-as-you-go). Of those, I only really use Windscribe and ProtonVPN right now, and for the others I'm mostly just stuck with the contract or use them when I randomly feel like I'm tossing out money by not using them.

Also running 2 active Wireguard VPNs on my own VPSes.

Just canceled this month: ExpressVPN (1-year subscription ended), 1 personal Wireguard VPN. ExpressVPN is good, it's just a bit TOO pricey, and for me, redundant.

Some of the less-known VPNs like PrivateVPN and WeVPN use remarkably good datacenters (although I haven't checked in a while). WeVPN in particular was using Softlayer(!!!) when I subscribed, but it started having connection issues so I don't really use it anymore.

They don't. Windscribe is a privately owned company.

From what I've heard, you can VPN to a location near the airport or something and get cheaper prices. Do a google search for more info as this is what heard to do like 5 years ago.

I've been using FastestVPN's lifetime subscription for several years now after using WindScribe for 3 years. Speeds and usability seem to be the same, but FastestVPN is $15 for life

That sounds so counterintuitive! I'd imagine someone who's already at/near the airport and is still looking for prices is doing so for a reason, therefore willing to pay more than one normally would otherwise (cancellations, emergencies, etc.)

Looks like port forwarding is a paid addon service?

They have ephemeral port forwarding that lasts for a week, after that you need to request a new port.

It's a little annoying, but I've been doing it for years, without issues.

Permanent port forwarding requires a static IP, which has an extra charge.
