Although it isn't for me personally, $945 for the Mythic seems crazy too. The Fishman Fluence Modern pickup set alone costs $200-$250 in most places.
All the reviews on these seem pretty impressive. I think Fujigen makes a lot of the higher-end Ibanez guitars.
They have been around a long time but don't do much in the way of marketing that I have ever seen. I expect resale value would be...not good. Although, at these prices you probably won't get killed.
Whoa. Was looking at these last night and somehow missed the Mythic. That's a great price!
The fit and finish of this guitar is basically perfect. No issues with the finish, the fretwork is smooth and neither the fret rocker or my playing found any issues. The fret ends are well polished and rounded. The fingerboard edges are nicely rolled giving it a played-in feel. Both the trem system and the vintage locking tuners work well. The nut is well cut and there is no binding at all out of the box.
As far as the setup goes, the intonation was almost perfect out of the box and it was close to in-tune. I am guessing they must check these out in California because it can't have stayed in-tune all the way from Japan.
I only have two minor complaints. While the tuning keys are smooth and work very well I would prefer higher ratio keys. The trem arm is secured with a set screw so you need an allen key to remove/install it.
This is an amazing guitar. I would put it against the much more expensive guitars I own without hesitation. Definitely higher quality and workmanship than an equivalent guitar from Fender.
I wouldn't hesitate to get another FGN guitar in the future.
