Is SLC good or bad.
Anyone have a recommendation for a PCIe 4.0 1TB SSD?

There's no way this is SLC. It is referring to an SLC cache, the drive is tlc. SLC means a cell stores one bit of info, mlc is two bits, tlc is three and qlc 4. SLC stores less info so it's very expensive to get a 1tb SLC drive because it's going to have to be packed with nand. The benefit of SLC is the longevity, as you shove more charge levels (which is what represents the bits) into a cell then it can only be written to so many times before the cell can't accurately hold the charge level. Qlc drives wear out much faster than SLC drives.

Might be better off with this drive from Team Group.

At least we know they have a decent reputation selling memory and other related products. Timetec appears to be in the same business but I've never heard of them before today.

Timetec was a Lite-On brand. Lite-On was purchased by Kioxia (Toshiba).
Kioxia and Western Digital now work together to develope controllers via their "Flash Forward" partnership.
This is the reason that new Timetec drives come with long warranties. Their newer chips are actually pretty good quality.

I'd never heard of em either. But they do have 1600+ reviews with 4.7 out of 5 star rating and only 3% with 1 stars. Thats a lot of pretty good reviews and I've never seen anyone fake so many. Reivews look pretty legit going back over a year.

Drives die. Whether or not you back you stuff up is on you. How long did you own it before it died?

No, PS5 needs PCIE 4.0, this is only PCIE 3.0

4.0 vs 3.0 isn't a big difference in real world use
