Across two accounts online at the same time- no.
A way to bypass this is by changing the primary console. If you set your primary console to be the other person you'll both be able to play the games on the account you want. To do this go into the eshop on your switch, go into account settings and deregister from the console. Then on your partners switch go on the eshop with your account.

He's right. They can play online as long as it's not the same profile. The primary Switch can play on any profile. We do this with a lot of games. Saves money too.

100% this. With 4 kids digital is the way to go. Buy it once for 2 kids, twice for 4 kids, etc. Never lose a game and save money. Everyone can play online together as long as it's different accounts and there's a primary Switch.
