They ensure someone keeps giving them access to all their private data, which the user agreement when you set up the device guarantees. Your data is worth a small fortune. Google didn't become a goliath selling phones.

interesting the Pixel 6a is not on the trade-in list. Many of us have the Pixel 6a on the way from other trade in deals that made if nearly free in the past few days.

Probably a stupid question, but is this worth the hassle and cost (60 bucks or whatever) to upgrade from the 6 to 7?

It sounds like the refund from trade in might take a few weeks (maybe longer during the holidays?)

Is the upgrade worth it? Thanks!
In the same boat here.
P6 is not a phone I enjoyed - dim screen, awkward volume/power buttons location, and mediocre battery life. None of these seem to change with P7.

Have a Pixel 6 currently on a device agreement plan with Sprint, and have 12 months left, it's not even currently active on that line, wondering if it's worth paying that off (supposedly the credits will continue) and trading it in for the 7, assume the earlier phones don't have the same value as the more recent phones, so if I wait until next year, it will probably lose its value...

Not sure how comfortable I am with paying $500 + taxes up front on the chance that Google may or may not give me the full trade-in value of my phone afterward.

Definitely something nefarious involved. If the product is free, the product is you.

But how does trading in a Pixel 6 to get a Pixel 7 for just the cost of tax make any sense? They have access to your data already with the Pixel 6.
To ensure they have continuous access to your data

I haven't heard many casess where Google has degraded the value of someone's trade-in. Have you?

I mean the questions on phone condition are pretty straightforward. If you answer honestly I'd be confident in getting the total value. I did on my 3a XL trade-in anyway.

I don't think you have Pixel 6, but let's entertain the idea. Where should they put the volume/power buttons? BTW, you should talk to your eye doctor about the "dim" screen.

Annoying that 256GB for 256GB is $80 more than 128GB for 128GB. Have a $60 credit to use, so probably will do it anyway, but still...

I do have P6.
Its power button is placed higher than the volume rockers, opposite from most other phones. (It' annoying when you own and use multiple phones at the same time.)
Visibility is pretty bad under the sun, when compared with samsung phones.

Google is the king of data collection. They harvest everything to aid in their manipulation, or, they sell to others that plan to do the same. The Apple ecosystem is more regulated, more secure, and less invasive...which isn't to say they're saints, just the best of all options.

That said, I was commenting on why it's nearly free, because data mining is their business. Apple isn't giving away iPhone 14s for nearly free with a 13 trade in. Why? Well, they don't make their money primarily on data, they make it on hardware, because they can, because they're better in terms of performance, stability, reliability, privacy, and resale value.

Yup, very deceptive. I purchased via Paypal but they charged to my debit instead of the chase freedom (for 5% cb). Had to return, and now I am having doubt whether I should pull the trigger. The 7 is a huge phone compared to my current Pixel 5
